Atlantic Youth Creative Hubs

Who are the Atlantic Youth Creative Hubs

The Atlantic Youth Creative Hubs is an initiative that aims to support and promote creativity and entrepreneurship among young people in the Atlantic region. The project, which is part of the Atlantic Action Plan, seeks to develop and strengthen the creative economy in the area by providing resources, training, and networking opportunities for young artists and entrepreneurs. The hubs offer a range of services, including workshops, mentorship programs, and access to funding and equipment. Through the Atlantic Youth Creative Hubs, young people are empowered to turn their ideas and passions into viable businesses and careers, contributing to the growth and vitality of the creative sector in the Atlantic region.

Space Youth Services is a proud partner in the renewed Atlantic Youth Creative Hubs project, lead by INVEST Santo Tirso from Portugal. Funded by Interreg, the AYCH partnership works inside the Atlantic Area to promote sustainable entrepreneurship opportunities for Young People.

Portugal:

  • Municipality of Santo Tirso

  • INCUBO

The eight project partnerships include:

Spain:

  • Vida Lactea

  • Fundación Galicia Europe

  • Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services Santiago de Compostela

United Kingdom:

  • Space Youth Services

France:

  • EDNA (L'école de Design Nantes Atlantique)

Ireland:

  • IMI – Institute for Methods Innovation

The AYCH ‘23 Project Aims to:

  • develop new activities to build on and share the work of the AYCH project

  • test and deliver new Youth Entrepreneurship and Employability projects

  • work within the Atlantic Area (European countries connected by the Atlantic Ocean)

  • focus on cultural, creative, and social projects

Space is doing this by delivering (and refining) an informal learning course to help young people across Devon explore entrepreneurship as a career, and to promote the entrepreneurial mindset in young people. We will also connect and work collaboratively with the other AYCH partners to widen opportunities across the Atlantic Area.

The AYCH Legacy

The Atlantic Youth Creative Hubs partnership was first established in 2018 and drew to a close in 2021. In that time the impact for young people aged 16-30 across the Atlantic Area has been wide and varied.

The final event, the AYCH Youth Summit, created a set of recommendations for sustainable working practice to follow by 2030. The full agenda can be found here: https://www.aych-2030.eu/agenda-2030/

The Future of AYCH ‘23

Thanks to an extension to the funding from Interreg, we will return to the world of AYCH in 2023 to ensure that our hard work won't go unnoticed.

Space will:

  • continue to follow the recommendations set out in the Agenda 2030

  • share our learning with organisations closer to home

  • provide further opportunities for Young People to explore entrepreneurship in Devon and beyond
